FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Character Combine a free event?
A: For the first time, the 2010 Character Combine requires a $5 nominal registration fee.  The charge is only to ensure that we can cover the cost of materials for all registered coaches and players.  This also helps to minimize the effect of no shows. 

 
Q: Who is the main speaker?  
A:  We are honored to have Sean Tuohy, NBA Broadcaster & SEC Basketball Hall of Famer as our keynote speaker.  The Tuohy Family was recently featured in the film The Blind Side, which tells the story of Michael Oher, a homeless teenager adopted by the Tuohys and now a first round draft pick in the NFL.
Mr. Tuohy is a testament to the success achieved through hard work and determination, as well as the necessity of giving to others out of what you have. 

Q: Who are the other speakers?
A:   Former Sacramento Athlete and National Speaker/Strategist Kevin Bracy and Hero Program Director Steve Wetzel.
Character Combine Director Jason Harper will moderate, host and deliver the final session where Significance Awards will be given to some well deserving coaches.  It may be you.

Q:  “I don't know who my captain will be. Can I bring a different player?”
A: Yes. Coaches are encouraged to bring their captains.  However, we are looking for your most influential players to attend.  Bring the player who can best communicate what they learn and the peer level.
You can register any player of influence that is at least fourteen, and in at least ninth grade.

Q: Where is the Combine held this year?
A: Character Combine will be held at ANTELOPE HIGH SCHOOL in Antelope, California.

Q: Is there a Q & A panel this year?
A:  No.  Actually, this year’s format is stacked with speakers that represent different topics that transcend all sports.

Q: Will walk up registration be accepted?
A: Not at this time. We want to be flexible, but due to space limitations, we will close out registration on April 10th.
 
Q: Breakfast? Gift bag?
A: Yes, yes, and yes.  This year each coach will receive a copy of Casey Taylor's new book, Taylor Made.

Q: What time does the event start?
A: Event Check In is at 8:00 AM and Session One starts at 9:00 AM.  Character Combine Awards will be given in the last session.  The day finishes and gift bags are distributed at by 3:00 PM
